I recently took my kids to Northlandz for a one-day indoor exhibit and it was an amazing experience! The wonderland had tons of different attractions, from indoor model trains to outdoor train rides. We even got the chance to take a tour of the entire facility. Took a few hours but every second was worth it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun day out with the family.
This place is a wonder! Filled with amazing, intricate models of cities, towns, and other structures it’s truly a sight to behold. There's something new at every turn. My kids had so much fun looking at all. It was great for their minds, plus it was a lot of fun! Highly recommend Northlandz as an educational and entertaining outing for kids!
It’s not just simple art but lives 3D art of one of its kind. The sound sensors make the space even more intriguing. For instance, when you pass by the airport, the sensors detect your motion and create a landing flight sound. There are multiple such 3D audio sensors to engage the visitor. Even though we walk for hours, we still can't get over the place. Recommended!
I am a mother to a kid who is so much into art. I wanted to surprise him and thus planned this one-day trip to Northlandz. I am so glad that he loved the place. He was so over the moon about the unique sorts of art in there. We are definitely getting here again!
My middle one is a true train enthusiast. He has a collection of model trains in this room from all over the world. When I came to know about this place I was eager to take him there. Truthfully, he loved the place and didn’t want to get home. Surprisingly, there was a gift shop where I bought him a couple of more model trains to add to his collections. He was so contented and I was happy seeing him so!
My little one is an autistic kid and for a long time, I wanted to take him to some place where he could be like other kids. I was having second thoughts about the place but seeing them focused on autism, I took my tot there. Surprisingly, it went all smoothly. The staff was so friendly and accommodating to my child's needs and the environment was very calming. There were autism inclusion zones as well as so many other interactive exhibits that kept my child engaged and entertained throughout the visit.
A day spent at Northlandz is a day loaded with fun! My little one and I had a great time wandering indoors. The miniature train ride was a highlight - it's so impressive how long the model railroad was! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and there was plenty to keep everyone entertained. I highly recommend Northlandz for a fun and memorable day out!
Wanted an educational and fun experience for my kids for their weekend outing and guess what, I planned a trip to Northlandz. It was a unique experience on its own. Kids were so fascinated by the intricate model train set-up and enjoyed learning about how it works. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the atmosphere was bright, clean, and inviting. My children could have stayed there for hours! It's a great place for kids to learn about trains in a fun way. Highly recommend!
Took my grandkids to my favorite place this weekend. They loved the place too. There was something for all as there is so much to see just indoors. The girls liked the doll museum quite much while the boys adored the live model trains. We all had so much fun after a very long time. Northlandz is definitely a place for all ages.
Northlandz was an experience we will never forget. The sheer size of the place is awe-inspiring and the levels of miniature details are just incredible. The ticket included an entire indoor museum tour & it was for sure worth every penny! It's also a great place with multiple photo ops! I highly recommend Northlandz for a family outing – we had a blast! You’re going to love the place too!
Awesome model train museum! Really loved all the trains and scenery. I recommend this to couples, teens, and small children.
We had a wonderful time today with our 3 year old. We spent about 2.5 hours there. Every visit you see something different but the scenery and track work have had noticeable repairs made and fresh new trains running. We plan to return and see what new and fresh models they will have next.
Thank goodness it wasn’t a pool day because we decided to take a ride down to Flemington which is about 45 minutes away from our home in Pennsylvania to see Northlanz! . Our son Is 13 and a lifelong train lover but there is so much more to see here than just trains! The love and work that has gone into this place is amazing. Fun nostalgic exhibits and beautiful doll collections throughout for the moms in tow! A beautiful gift shop and lovely outdoor exhibits. We highly recommend it!
Joey's favorite part of the experience was the room with the super tall bridges with the trains going over them. Mariana's favorite part was the room where she found the first T. This was my first time here with my kids and we all had a great time! It takes a few hours to get thru and the kids were entertained and engaged the whole time. Great place for train enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike.
I Couldn’t believe my eyes. Was much longer than we had ever expected! My 7 yr old loved it. Had a great time.
Northlandz is amazing if you’re a fan of trains and live within a few hundred miles this is an absolute must do the kids will love it.

Way more than I expected…totally awesome, I loved how I could make some of the trains go and other things happen! I also loved how realistic everything looked” -From our 8 yr old son! The massive layout is nothing you can imagine until you visit!
This was a fun family trip! Our children loved it! The train display was the largest I have ever seen! It takes up multiple rooms and stories. You can even see the control room where they run the trains from. The attention to detail in the display is amazing. Definitely worth a visit!
I found Northlandz on Google Maps as I live in NJ and my son is a big train fan. There are some train museums in NJ area but this one is definitely a recommendation for indoor. The trains here are so real and it is great fun for my family. Currently the Staff told me the trains are 30% running and will soon run to 100% after regular checks -- which I will definitely come again and see the amazing scene.
Northlandz is a great exhibit to bring train loving families. It's spacious and filled with tons of train history as well as amazing displays. We came to visit as a gift to my 4-year-old son and he truly enjoyed every moment. He was in awe of all the trains and even the play space they have. I recommend this place to anyone young or old.
This place is absolutely amazing! My son loves trains and this was a train lover’s paradise. The building is HUGE. There is so much to see, countless trains, and endless railroads. This place is a must on your to-do list! In the end, there is a small playroom with rides on trains and cars. One of the cleanest toy rooms I have ever seen in my life! Highly recommend Northlandz!
We took four boys 8,6,5 and 3. They all enjoyed themselves and had a great time looking at all the different scenes.
I took my son here for his 3rd birthday because he’s really into trains. It cost $20 for my ticket and it was free. We spent about two hours walking through the exhibits. He enjoyed seeing the trains. It was a Tuesday morning and it was empty! We were the only ones there for most of the time. Go to the bathroom before you start. There is one bathroom in the beginning, but it’s a hike if you need to go in the middle. I wish the steps were a little taller. My son had trouble seeing a lot of the exhibits and I needed to pick him up and hold him. Also, I brought an umbrella stroller and was glad I did because he got tired of walking toward the end. I’ll bring him back at some point, but I’ll wait a bit. I’m interested in a train ride outside in the nicer weather.
It is an amazing place. A nice way to spend a day with young children who may not have seen the scale of Trains. The creator has gone to great lengths to capture the detail. It is worth visiting once.
Took 2 boys (age 11) and 3 adults. All 5 of us loved it. How someone can even think to build something like this is amazing. It is a true gift to us all. It's designed so that as you walk through the display, each view is different creating a sense of anticipation with each turn. The detailing is remarkable. We were honored with an almost private organ concert. That's you for a wonderful winter afternoon.
Wonderful display of choo choo trains, complete with landscapes and all train paraphernalia. Great fun for kids of all ages!
I am not a fan of model trains but was babysitting a friend's son and took him here to kill some time. The place is unbelievable. Whether you are into trains or not, you will be blown away by the time, creativity, and work that went into the exhibits.
Visited with my son many years ago. Now visited with my 6 year old grand daughter. She remained excited throughout the entire exhibit. So did all the people who were there. Anyone who complains that the exhibit is old or dusty is missing the point and probably would pick out minor details on the Mona Lisa. This is still the most amazing train exhibit in the world. The short train ride was a refreshing plus.
I had never been to this type of "museum" so see so many trains. I was very impressed. My nieces enjoyed looking at all the trains. It is a lot of walking for those who cannot stand and walk for very long.
My daughter is 8 and loves trains, she is pretty reserved but completely flipped out from the minute we rounded the corner in the building to the moment we finished, so this is 100 million stars in her book. Worth the trip for this alone.
My son has never been so excited. Constant amazement. The detail and the work the owner has put into this place is amazing. I agree that it needs some maintenance, but it's still a 5 star visit!
My 9 year old son and I were blown away by this place! So many trains, tunnels, mountains! Crazy attention to detail with the houses, people and animals. We especially loved the challenges to find things in the displays. I am sure that you could see something new each time you visit.
Children of all ages will really enjoy this place. It contains over 400 bridges, with many extending 40 feet across 30 foot canyons. There is a huge city skyline that will give LEGOLAND a run for its money. There are so many lifelike creations, including: huge peaks (about 30 feet high), Swiss Alps, waterways, pit mine, funny signs and sights, and lots more. Our six year old grandson was enthralled for over two hours and is still talking about how “cool” it was. He’s already asked when we can go back.
On a short vacation trip to NJ with my son, we stopped at The Great American Railway/Northlandz after we had read about it online. My son is a model railroad and train/trolley enthusiast so this was a "must do" activity for us. If your child or your inner child is a train enthusiast of any kind, I recommend this activity. There is a gas powered, narrow-gauge railroad that runs on premises for about a 10 minute ride in open-air or closed cars. It is a nice way to relax either before or after your tour of the exhibit.
My two-year-old grandson was beside himself with excitement at seeing all the trains, and tunnels, and bridges. I thought he was going to explode. I enjoyed it mostly because I loved the wonder in my grandson's voice.
Everything was great, extremely detail-oriented, and one of the largest we had ever seen. If your kid is a train fan, need to see it once. I have to admit, it had lots of details and effort.
This place is so mind-blowing! I took my 5 year old kid to Northlandz. We are lovers of trains and model trains so this place was right up our alley. We have had it on our list to go there and certainly glad that we found time today. There is so much to take in around every corner and seems to just keep going. The amount of bridges and tracks is crazy. The epic scale of this model is incredible and beautiful. The scenes in the model are amazing and everywhere you look you see something new.
We took our 2 grandchildren, 11 & 6 on a Tuesday afternoon. What a great place! So many railroad displays and so much to look at! The kids thoroughly enjoyed wandering along the mile of walkways, trying to find the objects on the "treasure hunt". There were so many trains running on the tracks and various interactive buttons to push. Photos do not do this place justice, you have to see it to believe the enormity and scale of the displays and scapes.
Our 10-year-old was just about able to see over most of the viewing areas, so if going with younger children, you may want to bring a little folding stepstool with although many of the areas have ledges to stand on. Also worth seeing is the magnificent dollhouse filled with completely decorated rooms, the various collections of trains, military memorabilia, dolls and toys.
Pretty cool miniature train museum. We got an annual pass and my 3YO son loves coming here. If you’re local, an annual pass isn’t a bad deal. He loves to watch all the trains go around and around here. It is a pretty huge setup up too. It would probably take about 15-20 minutes if you just walked through. We usually get an hour out of it with a 3YO. He loves being able to stop wherever and set up his step stool to see the trains.
I visited Northlandz with two sets of grandsons at different times many years ago. Northlandz became one of the highlights of the boys’ childhood adventures with their grandparents. May we always be young enough to delight in experiencing this marvel no matter how old we are. Thank you so much for bringing Northlandz to the world and have a very happy holiday season.
Definitely would recommend! Lots to this train museum- not just trains. Lots of trivia to learn about different aspects of train history. Takes a bit of time to go through, to see all of the displays. Definitely worth the money. A must for train lovers.

This place is bananas. I could not get over the level of detail that goes into all of the displays, dioramas, and how everything is presented throughout the entire walk through this huge place. Definitely wear comfortable shoes, it's quite a bit of walking, but absolutely worth it. Take a stroller if you are with kids. It's 100% stroller & wheelchair accessible. I can't believe I've passed by this place for so long and never went. 100% recommend heading here and spending a few hours. Just amazing. There's also plenty of parking, and it's so easy to find, right off route 202, just north of the Flemington circle.
We took our kids to northlandz. They really enjoyed the visit. The attention to detail in every exhibit was mind-blowing!! So much to see and so much detail, a lot of creativity. Such a nice display. Many trains were running in some of the displays, definitely would recommend a visit
WOW! We did not know what to expect but this was certainly more! After 15 minutes of somewhat close observation, there was a sign that read "You are 25% through". There are so many scenes, and so much detail, the amount of time this took to build is mind-blowing. Kids of all ages will enjoy it. We were on a road trip and found this to be a wonderful stop before heading onward to NY highways.
Loved the experience, It is amazing to see how willingly every detail is made. The model trains, interactive scenes, and dolls. Kids really enjoyed. Highly recommend!
One of the most impressive model railroads you will ever see! Huge barely covers it, the scale is truly staggering. We spent over 2 hours walking through the place, each spot had so much to see and the whole time our boys were riveted, it was a very nice way to spend a rainy afternoon. The outdoor train was not running so I can't speak to that, but we left very content. Thanks to the staff who were very friendly and eager to answer the boy's questions. I know our boys can't wait to return!
Incredible, amazing, interesting museums. Here you can feel genuine passion, and love that captures every visitor. The world of the Northlandz Miniature Railroad will take you back to your childhood ... My boys (20, 18 and 12) were interested in doing the "Grandma's Treasure Hunt" task. Awesome museum, we will definitely come back here!
Wonderful place! We bought tickets at a very good price. The whole family was satisfied, and I will recommend this place to all my acquaintances.
I took my kids there. Northlandz did not disappoint. The sheer scale and attention to detail make it worth visiting. The different views of the displays with the changes in elevation and perspective are so skillfully done, it's only after careful examination that you realize the planning and skills of the designer. If you've ever imagined your own model train display visit. I will visit again and go for a train ride.
Northlandz is a gem for rail enthusiasts and others who just want a really interesting place to spend with their kids. We took our 2 year old who is absolutely obsessed with trains. Between the sprawling detailed indoor displays and outside scaled down ride on train, he was absolutely loving it!!! The staff was very extremely friendly and accommodating, some areas of the place are a bit dated, but the funny quips on some of the displays and the sense of wonder and humor absolutely make up for it.
Decided to visit this place after seeing an ad for it. I loved the outside looked sorter like the white house I don't know what the building was before but it's cool looking. When you get inside you're not sure if you are in a model railroad museum or a toy store because it's packed with kids' toys. Once you buy your ticket the model railroad layout is breathtaking 3 floors of trains, bridges, and a landscape it is amazing I loved it they also feature over 200 dolls, a 94-room dollhouse and a 2,000-pipe organ. I would go again!
The whole family enjoyed the visit. Miniature trains, the landscape, details are amazing. Kids were jumping looking at each of the different miniature areas. We were glad, we made it.
You need at least 2 hours to see the indoor space. It's huge! There's a lot of detail in the landscape work and so many trains!! We loved that there were interactive activities for kids along the way and a scavenger hunt for them to do.
An amazing experience for young and old. The expansive layout seems endless as visitors follow the winding path through this miniature world starting down low and scaling to the peaks of the high mountains and cliffs. Volunteers have been busy giving the layout some needed TLC.
This is a very cool little place. It looks bland on the outside, but is awesome on the inside! If you get nice weather, the outdoor train is fun. The detail and scale of this massive place are unreal, and you have to see it to believe it.
My kids had a blast exploring the miniature wonderland. The Thomas & Friends train sets were their favorite, and we all enjoyed the indoor amusement park!
We spent hours at Northlandz, and my children couldn’t get enough of the train museum. The art galleries and doll museum added a fun twist to the visit.
My kids were amazed by the detailed model trains and loved the train ride. The gift shop was a bonus where they picked up cute souvenirs!
Northlandz offered the perfect mix of fun and learning. My kids were fascinated by the model trains and the stories behind them.
Northlandz was an amazing experience for my kids! They were mesmerized by the huge model train displays and loved the scenic train ride. A must-visit in NJ!
Our visit to Northlandz was unforgettable! The kids loved the amusement park and the Thomas train set. Great family-friendly attraction!
We had a great time at Northlandz with our 5-year-old. The fact they were able to build a realistic canyon inside was amazing in of itself — but we loved searching for the “easter eggs” in each scene (like a canoe disaster! a bear attack!) “Grandma’s” scavenger hunt kept our kiddo engaged throughout the massive exhibit and since we love a bit of pretend — we loved making up a story for what was going on in each town/section.
If your kids love trains, Northlandz is the place to be! My sons couldn’t stop staring at the miniature train wonderland.
The indoor amusement park at Northlandz was perfect for my energetic kids. They enjoyed the train exhibits and interactive displays.

Northlandz was everything my train-loving kids could have dreamed of! The model trains and Thomas sets kept them entertained for hours.
Northlandz tickets are totally worth it! The train ride, doll museum, and model trains made it the best day out for my family.
Love this place. Each time I come something new is happening. Big gift shop lots to chose from. Grate jop on remodeling. Still has some of the old stuff set up, but that was makes it a true classic train museum. Keep on tracking along. Be back again soon with mom pops and my wife.
We had an amazing time at Northlandz! From the scenic train ride to the gift shop, it was the perfect family outing.
This was my son second time here, and my first time. It’s very large and there is so much to see. It took us about 45 minutes to go through the whole thing but we could’ve stayed much longer. I loved looking at all of the details and even seeing the trains moving along. We will definitely be back.
All the reviews are correct. It's amazing, astounding. My 4yo and 2yo sons really enjoyed the trains along with the train ride. They were indifferent to the dolls and random organ room. I personally enjoyed the 'Grandma' stories. definitely worth the visit.
